Wether you want them or not - kids will be at your wedding. Unless you are willing to call each and every Mom and explain why children will not be permitted - which is sure to offend many - be prepared to include them in your day. Here are a few suggestion to keep them happy and entertained.
Create a Kids Area
Put together a fun center with coloring books, blank paper, activity books, puzzles, etc. Include tables with tablecloths of white paper for coloring and a bucket filled with crayons. Place the tables under small white (10’ x 10’) pop-up tents.
Hire a Childcare Provider & Entertainers
The sitter(s) can coordinate games and events for the children to enjoy. If your budget allows, hire a clown or magician. For outdoor weddings, pony rides are a hit or rent a bounce house.
Gift Bags
Decorate bags with colorful ribbons adorned with each child's name. Stuff the bags with puzzles, coloring books, small toys, etc. Give these out during dinner to keep them busy.
Kid's
Menu
Consider a separate menu for the children. Mac & cheese,
chicken fingers & fries, pizza and PB&J are excellent choices.
Most venues offer such a menu at a discounted price.
Happy Meal Boxes
Prepare personalized food boxes for each child stuffed with snacks like string cheese, goldfish crackers, PB&J shapes, etc.
Kiddie Cocktails
For the wedding toasts, serve them sparkling apple cider in plastic champagne flutes.
Junior Photographers
Give each child a disposable camera. It will keep them busy for hours.
Special Dances
Have all the kids come to the dance floor for a special dance with the bride and groom - they will love the chicken dance plus it will make for great video footage!
Have your DJ lead a conga line of kids blowing bubbles as they snake around the floor. This makes for great dinner entertainment.
Magnet Lights
Stickers that attach to youngsters’ clothes, hair and skin, flashing on-and-off as they dance, will keep them entertained.
Teddy Bear Toss
Following the bouquet toss, have the kids gather on the dance floor and toss bride & groom teddy bears.
